Introducing the Appalachian Group of Companies

In a nutshell, our business is entrepreneurship. We find a niche or a new market, develop the technology (or simply license existing technology), develop the business model, find the start-up cash to launch, and then spin them off into standalone companies or sell them outright to investors and entrepreneurs.

The Appalachian Group is dedicated to bringing to life a series of startup ventures that will shift paradigms and change industries around the world. Our mission is simple:

To create businesses that help people, make our world a nicer place to live, and preserve our natural resources. All the while, making a profit for our investors and partners.

To facilitate our very different goals and to satisfy the needs of our investors and partners we are divided along 3 basic lines: Product and Service Innovation through Appalachian Labs, New Venture Creation through Cane Creek Partners, and Organizational Research through our Center for the Study of Organizational Effectiveness (CSOE).

Snap Shots

Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com

I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.
